CORSETRY
TUITION
January 2006 saw the first 10-week leisure evening course
at Perth College of Introduction to Corsetry. Over the
10 weeks students covered a brief history of the Corset;
history and types of fabrics/boning/busks etc; the importance
of measurements taken and pattern cutting; fitting; making
the ‘toil’: adjusting for size with this;
the important features involved in the construction of
the Corset; components that will be used; cutting; inserting
busks and grommets; making-up; final fitting and finishing
off. At the end of 10 weeks students had made for themselves
an authentic Victorian (c1860) unlined Dore Corset. |
