CORSETRY
TUITION
January 2006 saw the first 10-week leisure evening
course at Perth College of Introduction to Corsetry.
Over the 10 weeks students covered a brief history
of the Corset; history and types of fabrics/boning/busks
etc; the importance of measurements taken and pattern
cutting; fitting; making the ‘toil’:
adjusting for size with this; the important features
involved in the construction of the Corset; components
that will be used; cutting; inserting busks and grommets;
making-up; final fitting and finishing off. At the
end of 10 weeks students had made for themselves
an authentic Victorian (c1860) unlined Dore Corset.
This course is ideal for those interested in bridal
or special wear and provides a good grounding for
Fine Arts and Textile students.
There are no courses being held at Perth College
at this time.
Future courses will be posted here.
